Life lessons are almost always taught to us by the ones who love us most, the ones who love us enough to want to teach us. As 2010 arrives at our doorstep, I am still learning to dull my pride, to listen carefully, to obey, to follow, and to learn…from the ones who love us the most, no less. 2009 has been a life lesson of its own. It had its ups, its downs, like birds that rise and fall in the sky, like supplementary breathings of the tide. 2009 had its varicose-veined afternoons, its delphinium blue afternoons, and every possible hue of blue in the sky. Some months passed like a slow, humid dream, others, before my very eyes. Some days I grinned to myself silly, sleepy-eyed, and on other days, with a sheepish smile.

2010 awaits.

priority, obligation and sacrifice shall be my aphorism for the year.

i was just thinking to myself earlier today how i haven’t picked up a good book in a while and how, amidst all this madness, i am in dire need of one.

…and then, i chanced upon the David Marshall Trials by Alex Josey three hours ago. yayyyyyy.

“I’d like them to also understand that justice is a meld of law and humanity. Law and humanity; decency in concepts; if we administer law by the soulless logic of the computer, we aren’t on our road to progress.”
~David Marshall

The best part of the year is around the corner, with the looming taste of peppermint candy canes and the impending whitewash of the canvas of the year. Oh, how I am very much looking forward to the latter. But first, there are things to be done; spaces to declutter, memories to write, dust to be wiped, a choice to make, a ucas application to complete, an exam to take, a personal statement to write, that 3000-word assignment to nail. The first of many.

The learning curves keep coming. And they are so different now from what I thought were learning curves.

even in betrayal, i trust. <3
